Technical Advisory Services

ATPA is appointed as Architect to project managers working directly on behalf of the Department for Education (DfE), supporting the development of strategic feasibility options across a wide range of education projects throughout the UK.

We are currently working on over 30 live schemes, covering Primary, Secondary, Sixth Form, SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), Alternative Provision (AP), and Further Education settings. Our approach draws on decades of experience in the education sector, combined with detailed site analysis to understand constraints and inform practical, deliverable layout strategies.

Each study is developed in accordance with the latest DfE Output Specification, ensuring compliance with spatial standards, environmental targets, and delivery expectations. Alongside this, we work closely with schools and stakeholders to understand their specific operational and educational requirements. These are overlaid with DfE guidance to refine the brief and ensure the feasibility study reflects both national standards and local needs.

Projects range from new-build to refurbishment and remodelling schemes, all of which require careful alignment to tight area schedules and challenging programmes. Our input supports accurate funding applications, early-stage cost planning, and clear design direction.

In addition to technical advisory input, ATPA plays a key role in overseeing and coordinating successful design teams—ensuring each project progresses with clarity, compliance, and a strong foundation for delivery.
